Minneapolis Robbery Lawyer

Robbery is a Serious Crime

Robbery is a specific type of theft crime.  A person can be charged with robbery if he or she takes money or property from another without that individual's permission, either from the person or in the presence of the person, and uses force or the threat of force against the person in the taking of that property.

The classifications of robbery in this state are simple robbery, first degree aggravated robbery, and second degree aggravated robbery.  All three levels of offenses are classified as felonies.  The penalties for robbery are severe.  If the crime is one in which a weapon was used you will receive a stiffer penalty.  If a weapon was used and someone was harmed during the commission of the offense, the penalty will be harsher still.  With so much at stake, you need to seek the counsel of a skilled Minneapolis criminal defense attorney from The Law Offices of William K. Bulmer II.  I will work tirelessly to build a strong defense for your case.

Penalties for Robbery Offenses

In a simple robbery, a weapon is not used.  It carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison, and /or a fine of up to $20,000.

In first degree aggravated robbery, a dangerous weapons is used during the commission of the offense, or if you inflict bodily harm upon another.  The penalties for this crime are up to 20 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $35,000.

In aggravated second degree robbery, include the treat of a weapon or a threat to inflict harm.  The sentence for this offense is up to 15 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $30,000.

I know that going to jail or prison is a very grave matter.  It is the prosecution's responsibility to prove their case.  Often prosecution witnesses identify the incorrect person in photos or in a line-up.  If this occurs, I will aggressively argue to suppress such "evidence'', and do the same with fingerprint analysis, knowing that such human analysis may be faulty.  I will use my expertise and that of my experienced legal team to raise doubts in the jury's mind and protect your freedom.
