Victories of William K. Bulmer II


The list below is intended only as a sample of prior victories. My aggressive and thorough approach is responsible for getting charges dismissed or dropped in many cases, and my successful negotiations have greatly reduced the maximum penalties faced by many of my clients.

Case: 2nd Degree Murder
Maximum Penalty: Life in prison without possibility of parole
Result: Not Guilty verdict
Summary: Client charged with shooting death of individual after a drug deal gone bad. Evidence presented to jury at trial that police had arrested wrong person for the crime.


Case: 2 counts – 5th Degree Assault, Disorderly Conduct
Maximum Penalty: 90 days in jail, $1,000 fine
Result: Not guilty verdict on 5th Degree Assault, Guilty verdict on Disorderly Conduct
Summary: Client charged with strangulation of wife after an argument. Mr. Bulmer discredited alleged victim and argued to jury she was making up the allegations.


Case: 16 counts of Armed Robbery
Maximum Penalty: 99 years in prison on each count (Up to 1,584 years in prison)
Result: Client pled guilty to 9 counts and received total sentence of 6 ½ years in prison.
Summary: Client was alleged to have committed multiple armed robberies over a long period time. Through a thorough investigation and extensive motion hearings, Mr. Bulmer’s efforts resulted in 7 counts being dismissed prior to trial. Case was set for trial, however, a plea negotiation was reached allowing client to pled guilty to 9 counts of armed robbery and receive a total of only 6 ½ years in prison.


Case: Aggravated Rape
Maximum Penalty: Life in prison with possibility of parole
Result: Client pled guilty to Simple Rape and received 15 years in prison.
Summary: Client was alleged to have non-consensual intercourse with his mentally handicapped stepdaughter. Investigation revealed alleged victim likely consented to the intercourse. A plea negotiation was reached prior to trial.


Case: Theft
Maximum Penalty: 90 days in jail, $1,000 fine
Result: Case dismissed
Summary: After significant investigation, evidence proved client did not commit the crime. In fact, Mr. Bulmer’s investigation helped reveal the actual individual responsible for the theft.


Case: Obstructing Legal Process
Maximum Penalty: 90 days in jail, $1,000 fine
Result: Case dismissed
Summary: After motion hearing, Court agreed with Mr. Bulmer that client’s actions were not criminal.


Case: Drug Possession (3 strikes)
Maximum Penalty: 30 years in prison
Result: Client pled guilty to drug possession and received only 3 ½ years in prison.
Summary: Through a motion hearing and extensive negotiations with the State, Mr. Bulmer exposed weaknesses in the case allowing for a favorable plea offer for client.


Case: 2nd Degree Murder
Maximum Penalty: Life in prison without possibility of parole
Result: Hung jury
Summary: Jury could not decide client’s actions rose to the level of murder.


Case: Theft
Maximum Penalty: 5 years in prison
Result: Client pled guilty to reduced charges and received no jail.
Summary: Through investigative efforts and negotiations, Mr. Bulmer secured a plea offer allowing client to avoid a felony conviction and a jail consequence.


Case: 2nd Degree Murder, 3 counts of Aggravated Battery
Maximum Penalty: Life in prison without possibility of parole
Result: Case dismissed
Summary: Client charged with 8 other individuals after a shooting at a high school. One individual was killed and 3 other students were injured by stray bullets. All charges were dropped by the State after extensive investigation by Mr. Bulmer and a series of motion hearings revealed a lack of evidence against client.


Case: 2 counts – Terroristic Threats, 2 counts – Domestic Assault
Maximum Penalty: 6 years in prison
Result: Client pled to a reduced charge and received a minimal jail sanction.
Summary: Through extensive efforts by Mr. Bulmer, including employing the assistance of a dispositional advisor, client avoided a felony conviction and received less than 15 days in jail.


Case: 1st Degree Assault, 3rd Degree Assault, 5th Degree Assault
Maximum Penalty: 20 years in prison
Result: Client pled to a reduced charge and received a minimal jail term.
Summary: Client and wife and wife’s cousin were involved in a fight. Client’s wife was momentarily knocked unconscious. In addition, a knife was alleged to have been used during the fight. Through extensive interviews and investigation, Mr. Bulmer was able to reveal client’s actions were very minimal and in fact, a knife was never used and the wife’s cousin was the true aggressor.
